CAYMAN VILLA WEDDINGS

Island Photography by: David Wolfe Photography

"Destination Weddings" in Grand Cayman can be as simple or as grand as your heart's desire. A bride and groom exchanging vows with their toes in the sand and the waves providing the music is a memory not easily forgotten by guests or participants. Start planning by booking your accommodations. Visit  our Grand Cayman Wedding Villas Page for villas that allow weddings and parties.

GCV&T will put you in touch with only the most capable people on the island who have proven themselves to be professional and reliable with our guests. We ask each wedding client to critique their experience afterwards down to the florists, music and bakers.

The best light (photography) conditions seem to favor late afternoon/evening ceremonies and receptions. Many of our villas are large enough to host both events. GCV&T can also help you find additional (nearby) accommodations for your guests as well; in all price/amenity ranges.

The oceanfront ceremony pictured above illustrates the simplicity of an intimate "Family & Friends" wedding. A dozen slip-covered chairs on a white sand beach, a flowered arbor for the bride & groom and a backdrop of Caribbean blue are all that is necessary. Many of our guests will have their receptions either at the villa itself or at one of the many restaurants dotting this 22 mile long island. The photo to the right was taken at The Grand Old House restaurant in Georgetown for a sunset reception.

PHOTOGRAPHER (First thing after booking your villa)-

I would recommend that after you have booked accommodations, you book your photographer. I personally use David Wolfewww.davidwolfephotography.com ). He does much of the professional print work on the island, does all my upper-end villa layouts and EVERY couple I have ever sent his way have been very pleased with his work. In addition to David, Rebecca Davidson (www.rebeccadavidson.com) does very nice work and creative slideshows set to music. Click her link above to see a few examples.

Figure on  about US$2,000 +/- for four hours of their (on-site) services and a few hours of off-site (editing) as well. Each offers different services. The tough part isn't deciding on David (or Rebecca) as your photographer; it is getting on their schedule; so make that reservation quickly. Weddings in Cayman are pretty popular, and when you are the best photographer, you stay busy. I recommend that with a Sat to Sat rental period, you try to have your wedding during the week when all the stores are open and you have had a couple days to allow for all in the party to get to the island (in case of delays); and also the weekends are so busy for the caterers/restaurants...you absolutely get a better product/service on a weekday afternoon/evening. If the wedding is on Tuesday evening, then you still have Thursday and Friday to relax and enjoy the island (Wednesday is recovery day!).

David recommends a sunset wedding, as the light is perfect. That also makes for a charming evening reception by the villa pool (with the underwater lights on).

CATERERS (Second Thing)-

If you decide to cater the reception at your villa, you can use either a dedicated catering service or a restaurant. The closest (nicer) restaurants are Portofino's (345-947-2700; Manager Shakur) and the Lighthouse (345-947-2047; manager Giuseppe). The food at either is very good. A wedding caterer who has done weddings for our guests AND comes highly recommended  is www.miseenplace.com.ky 345-943-CHEF(2433).

COORDINATORS-

If you would prefer to have someone in this foreign country organize any or all of the ceremony for you, For the best job I recommend  www.celebrationsltd.com . Jo Anne and her staff can provide everything OR just the basics...whatever you choose. They have been featured on the Travel Channel multiple times and are capable of anything. There are just a few things that are probably better left to an on-island professional to arrange for so that you don't have a break-down in communications from long distance. Celebrations, Ltd. can provide invitations, music, cake, printing, officiating, photographer, catering, etc. Worth a call either way you go. 345-949-2044.

FLOWERS-

The coordinators above also do flowers, however I have a local (East End) fellow who owns East End Gardens & Gifts named Patrick Panton (345-916-4230) & who has a landscaping business, flower arranger and does garden design. I think he does a great job...and many of our villa owners use him for landscape design & maintenance. He also has helped out in a last-minute crunch to use local villa flowers Mandeville, hibiscus and bougainvillea to make up quick bouquets for wedding parties. Also Every Bloomin' Thing  at 345-945-1701 is a quality florist too.

OFFICIATION-

Look at the recommendations on the CI Gov't site at www.caymanislands.ky . We have had very good reports for Rev. Lambert Mills. lambertmills@candw.ky . He recently performed a wedding at the Castle in East End.
LIMOUSINE-

Limos are great is you decide to have your reception  in town at the Grand Old House or the Wharf restaurants; but pretty impractical if the service and reception are at the Castle in the east end. Elite Limousine Services (949-5963). If the extra guests are staying at www.royalreef.com they offer a courtesy shuttle...so take advantage of it.

HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGES-

Horse-Drawn carriages can provide the ultimate entrance or departure on your wedding day-- offering a spectacular backdrop for your photographs.

Contact  Cayman Carriage Company at 345-926-7669 or e-mail at caymancarriages@candw.ky

FORMALWEAR-

Island Casuals Wholesale (945-0924) can help with "tropical wedding attire"; otherwise, I would contact one of the coordinators above for formalwear. Many men bring down coordinating Tommy Bahama or Island wear they have purchased in the states. The Hyatt (seaside shopping mall) has a great store for purchasing these items.

WEDDING CAKE-

Ye Olde English Bakery (945-2420)

MUSIC-
Steel Drums - Michael Memay - 929-1178
Piano- George Davidson - 526-3386 - www.georgedavidson.com
Harpist- Eugenio Leon - leonharp@candw.ky

MOBILE MASSAGE/PEDICURE/MANICURE SERVICES-

Spa-To-Go (949-1525 or 916-5285) can come to your villa and provide nail and beauty services as well as having licensed massage therapists. For just mobile massage, we have Healing Hands (946-7388) and Under the Palms (947-8724).
